Turning an unnecessary garment into a treasure! – a second-hand clothing stall

Description: As part of the University’s commitment to sustainable consumption, on the eve of the Jewish New Year 2023 a second-hand clothing stall was set up on campus. The employees were invited to “sort out closets” and bring clothes in good condition that would make others happy and of course find a “new” garments for themselves and their family members. Clothes can be brought to the improvised stall located on the 700th floor, starting on September 5, 2023. (more…)

Environmental policy, safety and health in employment, at the University of Haifa

Description: University of Haifa holds detailed procedures documents in the fields of safety, health in employment, and the environment. Service for water bars Tami 4 (by Strauss company)

Description: The responsibility for handling the Tami 4 facilities (by “Strauss” company) has been transferred to the operations department, which coordinates the service issue for the Strauss water bars with the company. The service includes:

Description: University of Haifa uses the services of the two of most renowned companies in Israel in the field of drinking water solutions “Mayim4u – health in every sip” and “Tami 4” (by Strauss). “Mayim4u” specializes on water devices – water coolers, filters, purifiers, reverse osmosis and other drinking solutions. “Tami 4” (by Strauss) distributes water bars and dispencers. Pilot dishwasher devices

“Tikkun Olam” – the Haifa Conference for Climate and Environmental Correction

Description: On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, a multifaceted conference called “Tikkun Olam” – the Haifa Conference for Climate and Environmental Correction”, was planned to take place at the Lorry I. Lokey City Campus, University of Haifa. Due to the shocking massacre committed by the terrorist organization of Hamas against the Israeli citizens, brutally murdering above 1,400 innocent men, women, children, infants and the elderly, and taking captives near 150 Israelis to Gaza on Saturday October 7, 2023 and the beginning of a War of Iron Swords between the State of Israel and the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip – the conference has been postponed and its new date will be announced as the war ends. The conference has been designed as a broad expert forum that discusses the various areas of the climate and environmental crisis, and offers solutions to deal with it. (more…)

Description: The goal of the Commission for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the University of Haifa is to serve as address for inquiries and to provide assistance to victims of sexual harassment within the University’s community. The Commission is striving to increase awareness of the extent of the phenomenon, its diverse characteristics, and a firm stand on the principle of: If there is a doubt – there is no doubt! Periodically, the Commission issues an information bulletin dedicated to a specific topic from various aspects related to its activity. The June 2023 bulletin encourages anyone who becomes witnesses of sexual harassment to report it to the Commission immediately. According to the new regulations, University officials are required to report to the Commission as soon as they become aware of it within their area of responsibility. Description: According to a decision dated March 30, 2023, the management of the areas on the various campuses was transferred to the responsibility of the Vice President and CEO. Activities for mapping the campus areas are being conducted these days, with the aim of establishing a multi-year work plan, which will allow the university to optimally serve the needs of research and teaching, while maximizing the naturally limited area resource. First grade readiness group led by communication clinicians and experts in the diagnosis and treatment of learning disabilities

Academic discourse on the Legal Reforms planned by the government of Israel

Recycling stations and location of large orange bins throughout the campus

Description: In recent years, we have been able to reduce the amount of packaging waste that goes to landfill, with the help of separating the packaging and recycling it. When the packages are collected separately and arrive as clean as possible at the sorting station, they are sorted and directed to the various recycling plants that exist mostly in Israel, for the benefit of Israeli industry. As part of the SDG 12 goal and as a step towards its implementation at the University of Haifa, the Operations department coordinated recycling stations in central locations throughout the campus and also placed large orange bins by courtesy of the Haifa Municipality. Installation of the charging stations for electric vehicles on the campus by the Greenspot company

Federal Procedure – procedure ensuring rights of a university employee who exposes corruption – Whistleblower

Description: The University of Haifa is committed to grant university employees certain rights in situations involving an exposure of corruption as defined in Israeli law.
