Description: On June 13, 2023, the conference and the opening of an exhibition ” Between Mount Carmel and the Sea – Bird collection from the Shimon Angers Nature Room, Kibbutz Ma’ayan Zvi” was held at the University of Haifa. The event included a series of lectures describing the history of the collection, bird species, and 50 years of ornithology in Israel. Later the audience was invited to the opening of an exhibition in the windows of the library, presenting impressive collection of various bird species. (more…)

Description: The research suggests that moisture availability enhances diversity indirectly through moisture-sensitive, density-dependent conspecific interactions. Pathogens and phytophagous insects mediate interactions among seedlings in tropical forests, and many of these plant enemies are themselves moisture-sensitive. Changes in moisture availability caused by climate change and habitat degradation may alter these interactions and tropical tree diversity.
