Reducing the use of disposable cups and water bottles throughout the campus

Description: As part of the University of Haifa’s sustainability vision and its ongoing efforts to protect the environment, the university administration published on June 1, 2022, a new set of guidelines regarding the use of disposable utensils on campus, particularly non-biodegradable ones. Expanding upon this policy, in 2024 the option to order disposable utensils from the university’s supply warehouse was cancelled, and the corresponding catalog items were removed. The procurement system now allows the purchase of only biodegradable tableware. Furthermore, the Operations Division encourages university units to transition to reusable utensils by purchasing compact dishwashers for cups.
