A delegation of Israeli university representatives recently visited Bahrain at the invitation of the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in cooperation with the Israeli Embassy in Bahrain. It was the first academic visit of this kind to the country, following Israel joining the Abraham Accords. Haifa university was represented by Prof. Yuval Ben-Bassat, Head of the Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies department and Prof. Fruma Zachs, a faculty member in the department. The delegation met with a number of officials in the higher education system and universities in Bahrain to discuss collaborations, faculty and student exchanges, and joint research.
