Middle-Out Perspective (MOP) to Drive Renewable Energy
SDG Highlights
Description
In Weaving an innovation network from the middle-out: the case of the renewable energy ecosystem, the authors Prof. Ofira Ayalon and Dr. Tali Zohar of NERM, together with Dr. Yael Parag from the School of Sustainability at Reichman University, explore the creation of renewable energy (RE) innovation ecosystems, crucial for combatting climate change. The study, published in Energy, Sustainability and Society, emphasizes that effective innovation goes beyond traditional technology-push and market-pull approaches. Using the Middle-Out Perspective (MOP), the research analyzes Israel’s ‘Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Initiative’ and demonstrates how middle actors drive the implementation of RE technologies, pulling decision-makers and others to promote a low-carbon transition.
