Prof. Mouna Maroun, the first Arab female professor in the field of neuroscience in Israel, was named by the Israeli publication Globes as one of the 2023’s top 50 most influential women in Israel. Her research focuses on post-traumatic stress, aiming to develop a drug to alleviate traumatic memories. As Vice President and Dean for Research and Development at the University of Haifa, she promotes higher education in Arab society and encourages neuroscience studies among Arab girls. Prof. Maroun actively engages in volunteer work, climate change collaboration, and fostering connections between the academy and religious communities in Haifa.
